July 11 and 12 - Intro to Wheel Throwing
Monday, July 11 and Tuesday, July 12 (two sessions)
6:00 - 8:00 PM PST
Have you always wanted to learn how to make pottery on the wheel? Look no further! In this workshop you will benefit from one-on-one beginner ceramic instruction that covers all the tips and tricks to make beautiful pottery. You'll learn how to center the clay and create forms (bowls, cups, mugs, planters, etc.), with the opportunity to hand-build additional elements (handles, decoration). The second session focuses on trimming and finishing your work. You select your glaze color(s), work is available for pickup no later than 30 days after the class.
This workshop is great for people who have never tried the potter’s wheel, folks who want to re-awaken a hobby and people who nurse frustrated memories of wobbly pieces from their high school pottery class.
This class includes all materials and firing, and all glazes are food and microwave safe.
Adults and teens of all levels welcome!
Safety Protocol: Masks and proof of vaccination are required for this class.

About the teacher:
Catherine is an audio storyteller and artist living in Oakland; they specialize in beginner pottery classes for folks who are excited and curious about clay. Their studio values: accessibility, relaxation, celebration and curiosity. They've been throwing on the wheel and working with clay for nearly two decades and there's nothing they love more than teaching people how to create on the wheel! In addition to teaching clay classes in the East Bay and creating for their audio-themed art shop, Waveform Ceramics, they also produce Material Feels, a monthly podcast that explores the intimate relationship between creatives and the materials they fall in love with.
